After our recent news about our Tax Credits, I went into a very slight but significant panic – what we going to do? how we going to afford school uniform/Trip to see my dad/food? What ARE we going to do???
Firstly let me set the record straight, I am in no way driven by money, in fact I find money quite boring, if we need something we buy it, if we find a bargain – fantastic and as long as our bills are paid I am happy! But every now and again something happens and it does set me to panic – if it was just me and hubby I would be fine, I know that we would get through, but we have Legs and Mouse; they deserve to be looked after!
So after the news that our tax credits are being cut, that even though I work hard for a not very big wage we are no longer entitled to Working tax credits and the realisation of the knock on effect it has on other areas of life, the panic button was firmly pressed!
So what can we do? Well there are a few mini plans; Number one – really get OH’s business going, Number two – sort out toys/clothes and put on ebay and Number three – bargain shopping (well we are good at that already!).
Anything else, yes I thought, sell my wedding dress, it will make money and create space! Am I ready to sell it, not really, but needs must and all that. Hubby said an instant NO! He was not willing to discuss, it was a no plain and simple! But the idea sat in my mind!
After thinking for a few days, a quote from a film jumped into my head, One of my all time favourite films to be precise; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the quote came from Grandpa George:
“There’s plenty of money out there. They print more every day. But this ticket, there’s only five of them in the whole world, and that’s all there’s ever going to be. Only a dummy would give this up for something as common as money. Are you a dummy?”
Am I a Dummy?
No! So I won’t be selling my wedding dress, not yet anyway……
