Christmas Stories by Michael Morpurgo

You already know that we are a family of book lovers, what you may not know is we have a book related Christmas Tradition. Every year we open one present from under the tree with the kids on Christmas Eve, that present is always a new book for us to read that evening to really set the mood for Christmas.

I was lucky to be introduced to a new book this week, ‘Christmas Stories’; written by Michael Morpurgo (of War Horse fame) and is illustrated by 4 very talented illustrators including one that takes me back to my childhood; Quentin Blake.

The book is a collection of four very special christmassy stories.  The stories are very well written and the illustrations really set them off, I like how there are different styles of illustration. It feels like a new adventure with every turn of a page!

I can’t wait to share them with the Monkey and the Mouse on Christmas Eve when we snuggle up with a hot chocolate, in our pyjamas, by the light of the Christmas Tree and settle down to read before bedtime!

Books like this really make me smile, I can see us reading it for many Christmases to come, it is a little old for the children  to read alone at the minute but it is definitely a book that will grow up with them.

I just need to get it wrapped now and under the tree ready for night before Christmas!

Disclaimer: I received a review copy of this book and was happy to share what I thought!
