Country Kids

We have had a very busy and somewhat stressful time over the past few weeks, so last weekend we decided to take an afternoon to ignore everything that ‘needed’ doing and we thought we would have a walk, get some fresh air and feed some ducks.

20150321_160230It was a lovely walk to a duck pond not far from where we live. It was not too hot and not too cold – the perfect weather to be outside. We walked, played and laughed on the way.  On arriving at the pond the ducks must have know what we were there to do as they all came over straight away – they even bought over a couple of Goose friends! 20150321_155752Mouse was really brave and she got quite close the birds and let them eat direct from her hand; she thought it was hilarious! Monkey preferred to feed them whilst they were swimming about, trying to make sure that every duck had a taste!

I really enjoyed just taking a step back and enjoy a relaxing afternoon, thinking about all the ‘important’ things that ‘needed’ tpo be done!  It really is the simple things.

Feeding the ducks is something I think all children should do, one of life’s simple pleasures. Do you like feeding the ducks? Is there an activity you think all children should experience?

  1. I think taking time out like this is so needed sometimes and makes a huge difference to your mood. My kids love feeding the ducks, but our local pond the ducks, geese, swans and seagulls are all a little too exuberant so it’s a hurried affair before we feel under threat!

  2. Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up in chores, yet simple family time out like this are the things you look back and remember not the piles of ironing you completed. So pleased you had that time out and thank you for sharing it over with me on Country Kids.

Nice to have some fresh air and recharge your batteries with a new approach on how to tackle things 🙂

  3. One of our fave activity as well weather permitted! #countrykids

  4. We love going to feed the ducks. So calming I think.

  5. We love feeding the ducks! How I wish we are closer to the pond or park!

  6. It is so important to get out and away from everyday stresses even if you do have a really long ‘to do’ list. It sounds like you had a lovely relaxing couple of hours.
