Disney Music, Sofia and Doc McStuffins – Review

I always slightly dread longer car journeys with the kids, there is only one of two things that happen. The first is that they are so bored throughout the whole journey that we go insane with lots of ‘are we there yet? and ‘I feel funny’ comments, the second possibility is that the kids ask for their favourite CD over and over and over again, until we go insane!

Last week we headed out on a camping trip which meant a couple of hours in the car to get there. Luckily in the couple of days before we left we received a package with two new CDs in it! I saved them for the car trip in the hope that we could enjoy the drive and save our sanity!  The risk was that it could go wrong of course if the kids didn’t like them!

The CDs were

Sofia the First – One of Mouse’s favourite programmes, and one that Monkey denies liking because it is too girlie but sits and watches every time! This CD features the music from the show! In the show Sofia’s Mum marries the king and they move into the castle, where Sofia has to learn to be a princess!

There are people you might know doing the voices for the characters; Ariel Winter (Modern Family) as Sofia, Sara Ramirez (Grey’s Anatomy) as Queen Miranda, Wayne Brady (Let’s Make a Deal) as Clover and Tim Gunn (Project Runway) as Baileywick.

Doc McStuffins: The doc is in. Another Disney Show, one that both the kids [openly] love and they actually want to take their toys to Doc. Dottie McStuffins is a 6 year old girl who wants to be a doctor when she grows up, but in the mean time is a ‘toy doctor’.  When she puts on her Stethoscope the animals come to life and ‘Doc’ can talk to them. Each episode features songs that are really catchy tunes!

Well, the CDs did the trick!  We had to have Doc McStuffins first (as thats the one they both liked!), it was brilliant. I was worried that it might be over a little quick as I know from the show the songs are quite short. Well I needn’t have worried, it was a good 20 minutes of songs that we could all sing along too, I will admit we listened to it twice as we enjoyed it so much!

Next was Sofia and again there were many songs we know from watching the programme, so we all sang along together again, the kids had so much fun as they had heard them before so could join straight in!

These are great CDs especially if you have fans of the programmes, but even if not as they have some really catchy songs. So much fun and nice to have some proper ‘kids music’. We love disney and CDs are great to have!

The lucky thing is we have a couple more Disney CDs to fill the time, so we didn’t get drive mad by listening to the same CD over again, it was a really enjoyable journey and the CDs have stayed in the car and are now played on any car trip!
