I hate mornings!!
There I said it.I know hate is such a strong word, but I hate mornings!
I would much rather stay up until 5am getting things done than getting up at 5am. I am really not a morning person, I struggle to open my eyes, can’t speak until I have showered and can’t function until I have had at least two cups of coffee. Not sure if I have given you enough of a picture of how much I dislike mornings…
All this said I still have my morning wins, not always big things but to me they are achievements that make the mornings a little more bearable!
1. Opening my eyes before the children head downstairs for breakfast. I am lucky because hubby has taken on the role of cheif breakfast maker, so I get my shower whilst they all eat! If I can get my eyes open quick enough I get double snuggles from Monkey and Mouse!
2. Monkey and Mouse having Matching socks and their shoes on their feet on time. I think any mum would agree that arriving at the time you need to leave the house with the children not only wearing their uniforms, but also socks, shoes and an appropriate coat is one of the biggest Morning Wins there can be! To make it more triumphant they do it without screaming for help or stopping to play with an ant that doesn’t even exist!
3.Eating Breakfast before 10am. I will be honest I am not much of a breakfast person either. I just don’t like to eat when I get up in the morning, never really fancy it, however I do know that it is the most important meal of the day so I try to have something in the first couple of hours of the day so I can call it breakfast and it doesn’t become a snack or even lunch! I was lucky enough to be sent some New belVita Breakfast Crunchy to try and they have helped with this. Convenient packets of three biscuits, very tasty and they have been proven to slowly release carbohydrates over four hours as part of a balanced breakfast.
I am loving the hazelnut flavour! 4.Being allowed to brush Mouse’s hair with no melt downs, this is something we have worked on over months as Mouse does not like having her hair brush. She is pretty good now and will even let Daddy do it, but there still is the odd day where you find yourself running around the house, brush in hand, chasing Mouse who is shouting ‘No way hose!’. So each day that we get to do it is a small victory!
5.Having everything I need for the day in my bag. Diary, Keys, Purse, Phone and packed lunch – all things that have a tendency to remove themselves (!?) from my bag and not be there when I need them through the day
The biggest win for me though, is on a day I get to do the school run, the kids and I walk down the river bank, take in the fresh air and generally have fun, that is the best way to start the day! This post is an entry for #MorningWin Linky Challenge sponsored by belVita Breakfast.
