Summer Holidays

So it is the summer holidays – a whole week in!

Unfortunately my work gets in the way a little bit as I don’t only work term time, so I am having to really think about how we are going to spend the weekends and the few days I do have off!

This Saturday we are going somewhere cool, but I can’t tell you too much but you will hear more about that in a different blog post! I have a day off next week and we are heading over o family for my nephews birthday and it will be great!

I am taking a week off towards the end of the school holidays and we are looking to go camping; spend some time as the four of us and to generally have fun!

Monkey has been camping once before, it was only for one night with Daddy, Uncle and Cousin and he loved it! Mouse will be brand new to it!

We have a tent (well one kindly lent to us by Nanny) and the kids have brand new sleeping bags….

What else do we need? Do you have any tips for camping with a 3 and 5 year old? Oh…and where shall we go?

I really don’t like camping, but 6yo really wants to go so I may have to suffer. My biggest tip would be to take wine and find out where the toilet is!

my only tip for camping is don’t do it!! I have a real phobia, I don’t mind the odd caravan but tents…NO! Enjoy…

Mine love camping and they’ve been a lot. Let the kids pack a bag of toys each for rainy time and winding down while you’re busy, but don’t let them include too many small pieces, or let them only play with their small toys in the bedroom so that you don’t lose it in the grass! Be prepared for cooking, dressing, eating, showers and bedtime to all take a lot longer than at home. Relax into it and you’ll have a great time 🙂
