What’s the story?

I love looking at old photos, they hold so many stories and memories. Even better I have found a linky which means I can share old photos I have found on my reminiscing trips through the photo albums (or digital folders not he computer!) and share them with you.

Today I found this photo9204part 2

In this photo you can see Monkey in his fancy dress (Anakin Skywalker) and Mouse is in a little dress – covered up with rain coats and wellies, digging in the stones in the garden in the rain! A long sentence but it covers everything I love about this photo and the story behind it!

I remember how on this day in July 2012, both the children decided to dress themselves, they were 2 and 4 years old and wanted to show their independence by picking an outfit each, even though their outfits weren’t the best for the day we let them do it.

When they asked to go outside, my first reaction was ‘no, it’s raining and you are not dressed right’ luckily this reaction was in my head because then I thought ‘well why not – they can get dried an the clothes can be washed!’.

So out they went! They loved it, digging, playing, laughing and generally being kids. I love them and this photo so much!

That’s just brilliant, what a great image! They look utterly adorable in their outfits too. It’s always so entertaining when they dress themselves (I have a 3 year old) and so easy to let them go with it when they’re at home. They look like they’re having the best time there digging in the stones! Lovely post, thank you for sharing with #whatsthestory

Lovely story behind the photo. Miss C likes to dress herself and I do inhale quite sharply at some of the things she puts together but I guess it’s their way of exercising a bit of independence. OK if you aren’t going out anywhere LOL

Such a lovely photo and a great memory. Don’t you just love it when kids pick their own clothes!

This is what childhood is all about isn’t it. Letting go, and letting your kids have fun in their own little world – lovely post :)

that’s so lovely! it is so easy to say no – not the right clothes, no – too rainy, no – too muddy! but as you say, they can easily get clean and dried and they have so much fun!
